Private-Label Skincare Enquiry: A Practical OEM / ODM Brief
A useful private-label enquiry explains what you want to keep, what you want to change and where the product will be sold. For example, an INVANNCHY 200ml tube body lotion and an OCELEIYA essence set involve different packaging questions. A clear brief makes these differences visible before quotation and sampling.
Choose the purchasing route first
Brand wholesale means discussing products supplied under their existing brand. Private-label development means discussing a product under your own brand, with the formula, packaging and artwork scope agreed separately. Suppliers may use OEM and ODM differently, so describe the work required rather than relying only on an acronym.
If you start from a catalogue reference, provide its link and explain which characteristics interest you. For BL2779, you could discuss the 200ml tube format and the available customization options. For the purple essence set, first confirm the contents and packaging specification before planning a branded set.
Separate formula decisions from packaging decisions
- Formula: desired format, texture, fragrance direction, ingredient preferences and intended use. State any requirements you already have instead of assuming a pictured product satisfies them.
- Packaging: tube, bottle or set; requested capacity; closure; outer box; artwork language and branding. Identify what is unchanged and what needs development.
- Commercial brief: destination, sales channel, quantity per variant, sample needs and target schedule.
- Documentation: ask which formula, ingredient, packaging and quality documents can be provided for the selected product and destination.
Agree the sample and quotation scope
Ask the team to separate product costs, packaging work, samples, development charges and delivery arrangements where applicable. Minimum quantities can depend on the product and the requested changes; there is no single MOQ that can be inferred from the catalogue.
Before confirming production, align the sample version, specification, packaging artwork and agreed checks in writing. If a sample, fragrance or pack changes, confirm whether the quotation and schedule also need to change.
Make the next reply easier
